Beach Fun

Ok, I know that summer is gone, but in California ANYTIME is a good time for the beach. My mom, sis, Nicole, and all the kiddos went to Laguna just for some time together. It was chilly, but my boys didn't seem to mind at all!!

Robbie was CRAZY!!! He just had to get in the water. AND YES, I did have a change of clothes for this very reason :)

This was hilarious! My sister was trying to put a crab leg she found in my mom's jacket! I was laughing SO hard!

Whoever thinks that photography is not dangerous....I fell and slid down a rock on my wrist while taking a picture of my sis. Oh yeah, IT HURT!

Cut to the core

I love my church. I love the people, the worship, the message. Each week I am challenged, chastised, convicted and lifted up all in 90 minutes time; I leave feeling like I have been worked over one. It's AWESOME. That may sound strange to some; to others, you know exactly what I mean.
We started a new study series titled "Glamorous." Today we focused on GREED and what role it plays in our lives. To be completely honest, I never thought I was a greedy person. I give, I share, I have compassion, right?
That thought has changed in the past month. I may not be the World's definition of greedy: Excessive desire to acquire or possess more-especially more material wealth-than one needs or deserves, but I don't want to be God's definition of greedy either: Keeping the resources that God has blessed you with for yourself and neglecting God's passions and priorities.

I have failed at this...a lot. What better time of year to give EVERYTHING I have to God and His passions and priorities?

I challenge you to think about the role that greed plays in your life, and how you can change it for the better. I sure am.

I am so Thankful...

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I did! It's funny, I don't eat turkey, I don't like cranberry sauce and yet, Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite holidays. Just being around my family and friends gets me excited.
When we were first married, my husband was in the Army and we were away from family for what seemed like forever. No holidays together, or birthdays, or births...it was very hard for me. I guess that's why just BEING with my family is what I am thankful for. The bad, the good, the EVERYTHING!

Today is my husband and my's 12 year anniversary! Yep, I can't believe it either! Time goes by really fast, especially after you have kids. I love you babe, thanks for putting up with me and Happy Anniversary!

Mark and Melissa: Wedding

On November 10th, I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding for Mark and Melissa. Their kindness for others and love for one another was seen throughout the day, making sure everyone was happy, comfortable and having a good time. Congratulations to you both and I hope you had a great time in Maui!

On a side note, this wedding has encouraged me to brush up on my foreign language skills...the entire ceremony was done in Spanish :)

Volleyball Champs!

As, much as I love shooting weddings, it's always nice to do something different now and then. I never really thought of myself as enjoying sports very much, but that has changed recently. I have been shooting my brother's volleyball games and it has been quite fun! I like the different type of excitement that comes from photographing sports. You're never quite sure what is going to happen.

That being said, on to my post...

This last Thursday, was the final playoff game for Christian's volleyball team and they WON!

The Challenge: The Results

Ok, so this should have been posted a while ago, but better late then never, right? The 30 day run and fastest 3mile challenges are over and I'll cut right to the chase...I came in 3rd for the most most miles and 7th for the fastest 3 mile. Yes, I am very sad about it, but also proud of myself in a way. In the last month, I spent some awesome time with my mom, and really got a jump start on a workout that I truly enjoy. Thanks for all your encouragement, it really helped! The winners were: Shannon Sewell and Sean Mclellan...check them out and give them some love. THEY DESERVE IT!

Halloween 2007

As we have done for the last 3 years, we go to a local church in our area called the Grove for "Trunk or Treat." They have people decorate the trunk of their car and pass out candy as well as have a carnival. It's fun, safe and the boys love it!
Logan went as "Woody" and Robbie went as "Buzz Lightyear." Both from Disney's Toy Story
This year, Logi actually got to walk around and take the candy from the people. He COULD NOT believe that people were just giving away candy!! I think this is going to be his favorite holiday. :)
Robbie, on the other hand, doesn't like candy, so he was just having fun with his nieces and daddy. :)

Robbie's 4th Birthday

On Sunday afternoon we celebrated my oldest son Robbie's 4th birthday. We took his friends (and their parents) to play miniature golf and have pizza. Of course, golf was complete chaos, and we lost like 10 balls, but the kids had fun and that's all that mattered!

When Ashley and I first met to talk about her wedding photography, we clicked right away. She is a fun, loud, got-it-together girl that has a heart of gold. Mark is quiet, laid back and in love with Ashley! Together they make a winning team. I have only know them a matter of months, but have enjoyed each photo session, phone conversation, and email that we have shared.

Last Saturday, under the threatning skies, with friends and family, Mark and Ashley pledged their love and lives to each other.

Now that their wedding is over, I am sad that I don't have plans to see them again. Although, I still want to make it Colorado, Ashley!!

A day in the mountains

We love going to the mountains to visit my husband's parents. It is just nice sometimes to get out of the city. On Sunday, we spent the afternoon with them.
The boys picked apples out of their apple tree in the front yard and we just enjoyed some relaxing time with them.

The tree in their front yard is this amazing pink/red color. I couldn't believe it!

They have 2 greyhounds, a cocker spaniel and this little guy belongs to my sister-in-law, Courtney. Isn't he cute!

After a day with the grandkids, Papa, needs to relax! :)

The Challenge: Update

Well, the 30 days challenge has been going on for almost 2 weeks, and I have to say that I am really happy with my progress. I have run/walked over 30 miles and currently I am in 3rd place. My feet, on the other hand are not so happy with me and I have the blisters to prove it! :)

I have never felt better and I totally enjoy the time spent outdoors. I think though, I should get extra points, because I have to push a double stroller with both my boys in it! Ugh! :)

Sabrina and Brian Wedding

On Saturday, September 29th, I had the honor to be a part of the wedding of Brian and Sabrina. For a wedding that was planned in only 44 days, it was one of the most romantic and special weddings that I have been a part of! Sabrina and Brian's love overflows from their very souls; they truly are soulmates.

The wedding took place at Sabrina's best friend's home, with their family and closest friends.

Thank you Sabrina and Brian for allowing me to be a part of your most special day, the joy you bring each other was an awesome thing to see. I wish you both all the happiness in life.

On Thursday afternoon, I drove down to San Diego to have meet Mel and Melissa K for lunch at Panera. I had never met Melissa Koehler, and we clicked immediately. She is sweet and fun, and completely comfortable to be around. I look forward to more times with her. Of course, everyone knows how I feel about Mel...she rocks! Thanks Melissa for a great time "networking." :)

Oh yeah, the reason I look so cool in this photo is because I came straight from my 4 mile run that morning!! Mel and Melissa were sweet, they let me sit with them anyways! :)

THE CHALLENGE

So about 2 weeks ago Fred Egan issued a challenge to a few photographers to see who would complete 30 miles the fastest. And although I was not part of that challenge, I watched it very closely. This time I accepted his next challenge...

Am I crazy? Yeah, probably, but I so motivated and I excited about it! Since it began yesterday, I have logged a little over 8 miles and lots of Tylenol. I'll keep you updated!
By the way, I really need to be encouraged through this, so leave me lots of love!!! :)

On Wednesday night, David Jay and KISS ALBUMS threw an awesome party at Blue 32, in Hermosa Beach. Melissa and I went and had the best time!!! Not only did we get to hang out with tons of cool photographers, but I was able to meet some of my photog IDOLS!! It was a blast! Thanks DJ and Kiss for the great party!!

Melissa and I went to Oregon for her Grandmother's Memorial Service. Although it was for a sad occasion, we had the best time! We went berry picking and enjoyed time at her Uncle Dave and Aunt Kathy's home at the base of Mount Hood. Thanks Bryan and Patricia for allowing me to come and be a part of your family for the weekend. I truly enjoyed it!

I was excited, because I knew that it would give me the chance to get to know some of the bridal party better, and that's always important. What I didn't expect, was how much I was treated like a part of the family and how much I truly enjoyed listening to the stories of Ashley and Mark. Here goes...

1. I was captain of my cheer squad in highschool! Oh yeah baby, I could scream, jump, get a crowd worked into a frenzy! :)

2. I CANNOT sleep in bed with socks on! I can't stand the feeling! Yuck!

3. My mom and I love to eat salsa until we cry from our mouths being on fire. I love it!

4. I am a total news junkie. I would rather watch the news then just about anything on TV. I want to be informed of what's going on. I also have XM is my car and I only listen to the news channels. Not my husband's idea of money well spent.

5. My two little boys are my greatest accomplishment ever!

6. I love a good bubble bath, no really, I could LIVE in the bath tub. I love reading, working on the computer, writing or doing ANYTHING in the bath. I wanted to be a mermaid when I was little :)

7. I am germaphob! I am deathly afraid of germs. I have sanitizer in my purse, in my car, everywhere, not to mention the hand wipes. As a gag gift, a few years ago, some friends got me travel toliet seat covers. Gag?! I loved them!!

8. I have a love affair with shoes...even shoes that I know I will never wear. But they look so pretty decorating my closet! I LOVE SHOES!

On June 24th, I assisted Brittney with a wedding in Redlands. Carlin and Jennifer celebrated their love with their large family and friends in the beautiful backyard of a close friend. I really enjoyed being witness to their ceremony, and loved that many family members and friends sang, spoke and read words of inspiration to Carlin and Jennifer. You could feel the deep emotion that they share for one another. Jennifer surprised Carlin and sang to him from the balcony of the house before she walked down the isle. This is one talented group of people!

I have known Suzanne for YEARS! She is my sister's best friend and really a part of my family, so when her and Albert decided to get married, we were so excited! Suzanne has a heart and passion for God and lives her life to glorify Him. When she decided that Albert was THE ONE, we knew that he had to have the same passion. They are an adorable couple and every part of their ceremony meant something special to them. It was a wedding experience like no other.

Josette is a shy, quiet, sweet woman. Alfred is an outgoing, funny, caring man. Together, they are the perfect pair and complement each other so well. They chose 7-7-07 to be the day to exchange vows in front of family and friends that came as far as the Phillipines. Even as Alfred was minutes away from getting married, he cracked jokes and made sure that everyone was happy and having a great time. Sea World Adventure Park

Ok, yesterday was "Sea World Adventure Park." And yes, it WAS an adventure. But really any place is an adventure when you take 3 kids along! We had a great time and all the kids (and parents) slept good last night :) We are getting ready to walk out the door to Huntington Beach!!

So I am going to have a busy week...yesterday was the winery, and today was the Laguna Sawdust Festival. Tomorrow will be Sea World and then Thursday is Huntington Beach for pedicures with the bride and her bridesmaids for this coming Saturday! My mom is not working anymore, the kids are out of school for summer vacation and 2 of them are away at summer camp. So we are hitting all the places we can while they are gone. I am going to be pooped! Anywho, this is pictures of today's adventures; I always love going to the beach and Laguna is my favorite. Laguna Sawdust Festival is an awesome art exhibit with all different types of art: pottery, ceramics, photography, painting, glass blowing, and body art...you name it, they have it.

Good Times, Good Wine

Today, my mom, sister, Melissa, Alexis and Logi went to Temecula for a little lunch and wine tasting. Yummy! We started at Ponte Family Estate Winery, where we had lunch. Logan was chilling at the table and little Alexis was taking care of him.

So I have 2 little boys...one is 3 1/2 and my baby is 16 months old. They are my joy and my stress (any of you who have children know what I am talking about) Anywho, Saturday afternoon, Robbie (the oldest) and Logan are playing in the backyard, when I go back to check on them, this is what I find...

One of the things that has surprised me the most about industry of wedding photography is how NICE everyone has been. Honestly, I have not come across a photographer that, when I have asked for help, has not been more then willing to answer my questions. With that being said, Melissa and I contacted Jasmine Star (one of my photog idols), and asked if she would be interested in sharing her knowledge with us if we took her out to lunch. She was such gracious and genuine person; and I learned SOOO much in the 2 hours we spent with her. She let us ask about a million questions and answered everyone of them with complete candor. Thank you Jasmine for listening to a couple of blog stalking fans of yours! You are awesome!

I have been dying to go see the musical Wicked for a couple years and for Christmas last year, my mom and dad bought my sister and I tickets! We went on Sunday June 3rd and it was even more amazing then I imagined. I recommend everyone to see it.

At the end of the season, my nieces' softball team has a little party to celebrate. This year they celebrated at Monkey Dooz, a kids' "spa." Haircuts, pedicures, manicures...lots of girlie stuff. So I tagged along to watch the fun, since I have to boys and don't get to do many girlie things with them. :)

New house

My In-laws have finally had their dream come true! They have purchased a home in Running Springs. It is a adorable 2 bedroom cabin that they will be living in full time. They have wanted to move to the mountains for

years and it is finally happening. We are all so excited!

Leann, one of my May brides agreed to be my model, so on Monday we went to Crystal Cove beach. Leann couldn't have been a better model, and even though it was cold and overcast got in the water for me! She helped make my dream a reality. I love you Leann!! Alfred and Josette's Engagement

So I haven't blogged in a while, but alot of stuff has been going on, moving, kids, you know, just life in general. Soooo, I am back and ready to update! There will more blogs in the next couple days, so check back.

On May 5th, I was honored to photograph the reception of Ryan and Leann Riggs down in Oceanside at Camp Pendleton. They were married last year, then Ryan, a U.S. Marine, was sent to Iraq. Thankfully, his entire group came home safely! So they had much to celebrate and boy did they! One of the most fun parties I have been to. Leann was a beautiful bride and Ryan just adores her!

Brett and Amalia Engagment photos

I spent the afternoon with Amalia and Brett at The Huntington in Pasadena. Amalia chose this location for their engagement photos and let me just say...WOW! The Huntington is a library, art collection and botanical gardens all in one! It was a beautiful place, but not as beautiful as these two love birds. They are getting married on June 30th, I can't wait! Thanks for sharing such a great location Amalia!

Mary and Casey's Wedding

April 21st, I again assisted my very busy photo buddy Mel. We photographed Mary and Casey's wedding at the Rancho Gajome Adobe in Vista. The weather was perfect and the sky was beautiful! This couple was so in love and needed no prompting in the affection dept.

The cake was not your ordinary cake; it was cupcakes, and they were yummy!

Well, wedding season has officially started and I LOVE IT! I find myself so captured by the bride and groom as if they were my best friends. Every time the bride walks down the isle, the best man gives his toast or the bride and her father dance, my eyes tear up. It is an emotional, and moving experience, no matter how many times I witness it.

This past Saturday I assisted my best buddy Melissa on a wedding in San Diego at the Bali Hai. One of most fun weddings I have been too! Here are some of the highlights.

My buddy Mel arranged to have a friend she's known since 1st grade, Sherry, put on her wedding gown one more time and let us photograph her at the Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula. Sherry was married back in October 2006, and still makes a beautiful bride! Thank you Sherry, we had lots of fun, and it was a great experience.

A Baby Shower!

So one of my best friends from high school, Lani and her husband Paul, are having a baby girl due May 23rd. Her name is going to be Alexa. So sweet. We are super excited and can't wait! Her baby shower was on March 17th and I was able to steal the mommy-to-be away for a little private photo shoot. Congrats Lani and Paul! I love you both!
